New Relic

Integrating NetFlow Optimizer (NFO) with New Relic provides a holistic view of your digital ecosystem, allowing you to correlate application performance with real-time network telemetry. By streaming enriched network flows into New Relic, teams can finally answer whether a performance dip is caused by application code or an underlying network bottleneck.

The NFO Advantage for New Relic

New Relic's pricing and performance are optimized for high-value telemetry. NFO ensures your network data fits this model by refining it before ingestion.

  • Cost-Effective Visibility: NFO aggregates and deduplicates raw flow data at the source—reducing volume by 80% to 90%. This allows you to monitor your entire network without exceeding your New Relic data ingestion limits.
  • Network-to-App Correlation: Enrich network logs with metadata (DNS, VM names, User Identity) so they can be easily linked to New Relic APM entities and Infrastructure metrics.
  • Structured Insights: By delivering data in a format ready for the New Relic Logs platform, NFO enables instant alerting and dashboarding without complex manual parsing.

Integration Architecture

NFO acts as a specialized telemetry processor that feeds the New Relic Infrastructure Agent.

  1. Ingest: NFO collects flows (NetFlow, IPFIX, sFlow) from your routers, switches, and firewalls.
  2. Refine: Data is aggregated to reduce noise and enriched with identity context.
  3. Forward: NFO sends logs via UDP to the New Relic Infrastructure Agent (or a dedicated syslog collector).
  4. Analyze: Use New Relic’s NRQL and pre-built visualizations to hunt for threats and troubleshoot latency.
